About the Position
We are seeking a highly skilled Research Associate to join our team at the Department of Medical Genetics, Faculty of Medicine, University of British Columbia (UBC). As a Research Associate, you will contribute to the development and analysis of novel mouse and human pluripotent stem cell models of genetic neurological disorders.

About the Role
The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. Mahmoud Pouladi and other researchers to perform and/or supervise behavioral and histological analyses of novel mouse models of genetic neurological disorders. You will also be responsible for maintaining, expanding, and analyzing cell line, brain slice, and primary neuron cultures. Additionally, you will perform CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing, lentivirus infection, shRNA, and transfection to knockout, knockdown, or overexpress gene expression levels.

Our department is a world leader in the research, clinical practice, and teaching of Genetic Medicine. We pursue basic and clinical research for the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of genetic disease. About the Candidate
To be successful in this role, you will have an MD/PhD in Anatomy, Histology, or Pathology with a focus on neurobiology and 5+ years of postdoctoral experience. You must have expertise in histology, molecular biology techniques, animal husbandry, and ex vivo/in vitro cell culture techniques. Experience working with human pluripotent stem cells and their neural differentiation is also required.
