Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Summer Camp Activities Coordinator to join our team at the Town of Newmarket. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and develop valuable skills in program planning and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with staff break coverage and camp swim ratios ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
  • Facilitate engaging activities including games, songs, crafts, and swimming, promoting socialization and skill development among campers.
  • Collaborate with other team members to provide an inclusive environment and resolve any concerns that may arise.
  • Respond to emergencies and perform first aid as necessary, maintaining a calm and composed demeanor.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Counsellor in Training Program or equivalent certification.
  • Less than 1 year related volunteer or work experience working with toddlers, children, and/or youth.
  • Ability to deal effectively with camp participants, staff, and parents/guardians, providing excellent customer service.
  • Good organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
  • Flexibility to work a range of hours at various locations, including weekends and statutory holidays.
  • Able to participate in swimming activities and oversee camp participants in pre-set swim groups.
  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification required.
  • Lifesaving Society's Safeguard certification required.
  • Current High Five (Principles of Healthy Child Development) certification required.

Please note that certifications are not required at the time of application but must be obtained prior to job commencement.

The estimated salary for this role is $24-$42 per hour, commensurate with experience.
