About The Role

As a Health Emergency Management Specialist with the Regional Municipality of York, you will play a crucial role in coordinating the development, implementation, and maintenance of a comprehensive Health Emergency Management program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with stakeholders and follow corporate strategic leadership to ensure effective emergency management functions.
  • Program Planning and Evaluation: Support programs and services to incorporate emergency management principles into planning, mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery activities.
  • Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification: Maintain awareness of risks and hazards impacting York Region and conduct hazard identification and risk assessment in collaboration with subject matter experts.
  • Plan Development and Maintenance: Coordinate the development and maintenance of the Public Health Emergency Response Plan and supporting annexes, ensuring legislative compliance and consistency with regional plans.
  • Training and Exercise Coordination: Plan, implement, and evaluate staff training, tests, and exercises, and prepare reports for the Manager.
  • Emergency Operations Centre Readiness: Support CHS Emergency Management in maintaining readiness for the Departmental Emergency Operations Centre by developing coordinated plans and conducting staff orientation and exercises.
  • Event and Emergency Response: Participate in event and emergency response to initiate public health measures effectively, facilitate hotwash discussions, and prepare recommendations for the Public Health Emergency Planning Advisory.
  • Supply Management: Support the management of emergency supplies, including personal protective equipment, mask fit testing equipment, and supplies, and make recommendations for rotation and purchase.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Education: Successful completion of a University Degree in Health Sciences, Public Health, Emergency Management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Experience and/or training in emergency planning, response, and exercises, and business continuity planning.
  • Skills: Strong program planning, evaluation, and project management skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills and ability to connect with stakeholders.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $115,000 per annum, based on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth and development.
