The Ipfpc, a leading union representing professionals and scientists across Canada, seeks an experienced Labour Relations Specialist for a 12-month term. Located in the National Capital Region office in Ottawa.

Job Overview

This role provides labour relations representation and advice to the organization on Institute-wide matters and to members on matters of individual and collective representation.

  • Represent and advise the Institute and members in formal and informal labour relations issues and processes including grievances, mediation, facilitation, complaints, and conflict coaching.
  • Analyse and research jurisprudence, applicable legislation, employer policies, and collective agreements and prepare all relevant documentation and individuals for grievance and complaint processes on assigned labour relations cases.
Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice and representation to Institute members on labour relations matters.
  • Investigate and resolve labour relations issues through various dispute resolution mechanisms.
  • Analyse complex labour laws and regulations to ensure compliance with federal and provincial legislation.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Institute members, stewards, and management representatives.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, the candidate must possess:

  • A strong understanding of Canadian labour laws and regulations.
  • Experience in labour relations, preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Fluency in both official languages (French and English) is an asset.
Compensation

The salary range for this position is $96,587 to $120,734 per annum. A comprehensive benefits package, including group benefits (health, dental), vacation pay, and other generous paid leave, is also offered.
