About the Role

The Greater Toronto Airports Authority is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Manager, Baggage Operations. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the 'Day-of' activities related to baggage operations, ensuring the smooth flow of baggage to and from aircraft.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ownership of 'Day-of' Baggage operations, serving as the Single Point of Contact for baggage operations
  • Championing health and safety, reporting SMS incidents as necessary
  • Maintaining situational awareness related to people, planes, and baggage flows, ensuring the integrity of baggage delivery at all times
  • Leading and mentoring 'Day-of' teams to ensure safe and secure operations, including identification and resolution of complex situations
  • Engaging and leading a varied team of resources, ensuring sufficient deployment during regular daily operations and IRROPS situations
  • Managing a successful day, with a solid knowledge of important metrics and SLAs to ensure compliance
  • Monitoring and reporting on important metrics daily, taking action to bring systems back into compliance when targets are not met
  • Proactively monitoring IT & OT systems to analyze operational data, guide 'day-of' decision making, and identify areas for improvement
  • Participating in operational conference calls related to baggage operations
  • Establishing consistent communication to ensure the AOC and ADM maintain airport-wide situational awareness
  • Providing consistent and reliable feedback to Functional Managers regarding employee performance
  • Establishing and facilitating briefings and post-event 'hot washes' when applicable, recommending debriefs as required
  • Proactively monitoring situations specific to baggage operations to ensure they do not impact the airport as a whole, providing necessary communications as required
  • Collaborating with internal maintenance teams, IT teams, and contractors to resolve equipment issues in a timely manner
  • Ensuring compliance with all GTAA policies
Requirements
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma, or a combination of education and experience
  • 1-3 years of people management or leadership experience, building impactful, highly skilled, and motivated teams
  • 3 years' experience in an airport environment or similar, with demonstrated experience serving a large and complex customer base
  • Valid Ontario G Driver's License
  • Obtain a D/A AVOP (Airside Drivers license) within 60 days from start date
  • Obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position
