The Adult Guardianship Worker, now known as the Adult Guardianship Program Manager, plays a vital role in administering the financial affairs of clients who require assistance due to physical or mental constraints. Operating within the framework of the BC Adult Guardianship Legislation, this position involves receiving pension incomes from the Income Security Program (OAS) and Canadian Pension Program (CPP) on behalf of clients and enhancing these incomes through applications to SAFER and other supplements.
Key Responsibilities- Administering the financial affairs of clients, including managing pension incomes and submitting applications for additional benefits.
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
- Communicating effectively with clients, their families, and external stakeholders, including social workers, doctors, and government agencies.
- Collaborating with community workers to ensure seamless support for clients.
- A Grade 12 diploma or equivalent, accompanied by a Diploma in Accounting and at least 2 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Non-violent Crisis Intervention training is preferred.
- Registration with the Financial Institutions Commission of BC is mandatory.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to empathize with clients who may be experiencing complex issues.
- Proficiency in using ACCPAC financial software and ability to operate efficiently with computerized databases.
- Excellent typing skills, with a minimum speed of 45 words per minute.
The Adult Guardianship Program Manager will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, requiring strong organizational and time management skills. This role involves working with individuals who may have experienced abuse, poverty, grief, loss, oppression, violence, mental health challenges, or addictions issues.
