OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join our team in Ontario. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of post-call experience at a well-respected law firm or in-house construction legal department.
The successful candidate will possess sound judgement and legal reasoning, excellent analytical skills, and creativity in solving problems.
Key Responsibilities- Draft and negotiate design agreements, client agreements, subcontract agreements, partner agreements, purchase orders, NDAs, and other contract-related documents.
- Review and administer project-specific standard forms, including protocols for review with senior management and procurement teams.
- Provide training on contracts and standard form agreements for project teams.
- Analyze legal risks and report on mitigation strategies.
- Point of reference for all matters concerning prime contracts with clients.
- Collaborate with project teams to identify cost, schedule, and contractual issues.
- Advise on drafting notices and correspondence.
- Review utility and right-of-way agreements, property owner disputes, and provide advisement to project management and stakeholders.
- Support project teams in tracking and responding to contract change events.
- Assist with crisis management, including employment disputes, contract disputes, and input on decision-making.
- A current license to practice law in Ontario and membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
- Superior written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Sound judgement and legal reasoning, excellent analytical skills, and creativity in solving problems.
