Indigenous Student Recruitment Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Indigenous Student Recruitment Specialist to join our team at Douglas College. This is a full-time regular position, available starting August 2024, with regular hours of work from Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 4:30pm.
Job DescriptionThe successful candidate will actively promote programs and services at Douglas College by planning, maintaining, and executing domestic Indigenous student recruitment programs and services. Key responsibilities include:
- Promoting and coordinating strategies and programs for Indigenous student recruitment;
- Maintaining relationships with Indigenous organizations and communities;
- Recruiting, training, and mentoring student staff;
- Designing and implementing experiential student leadership programs;
- Assessing student staff performance;
- Providing excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills;
To be considered for this role, you will require:
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a related field from a recognized post-secondary educational institution plus two years' related work experience;
- Extensive cultural awareness, intimate understanding of ways of knowing and being, and worked with Indigenous organizations and/or communities;
- Excellent written and verbal fluency in English;
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics CRM system (or similar system);
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Indigenous peoples and communities;
- Experience in supporting Indigenous learners and/or communities;
- General knowledge of financial services and processes including entrance scholarships, band funding, and Canada & BC Student Loan application processes;
Douglas College offers a competitive salary, ranging between $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as excellent health and dental benefits, a defined-benefit pension plan, professional development funding, and access to our fitness centres and classes.
