Financial Controller Job Description

Fed Finance is seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to join our team in the West of Montreal, in Saint-Laurent. This is a permanent, hybrid position (2 days remote).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee Canada and US accounting operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and manage the Accounts Payable team, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
  • Enforce company policies and procedures, maintaining a high level of integrity and transparency.
  • Build and maintain relationships with management, departments, and vendors, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Collaborate with the Treasury team to manage payments, ensuring efficient cash flow.
  • Safeguard the Company from unintentional payment and overpayment, maintaining a secure financial environment.
  • Prepare monthly cash flow projections, providing accurate financial insights.
  • Lead and manage the General Accounting and financial reporting teams, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Adhere to the month-end and year-end close process, maintaining a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Report and interpret financial results to the Global finance team, providing actionable insights.
  • Ensure internal processes and controls are adequate, maintaining a high level of compliance.
  • Maintain and document accounting policies, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
  • Manage tax compliance in Canada and the United States, both indirect tax and corporate tax.
  • Participate in the budgeting process and variance analysis, providing financial insights.
  • Support audits by managing audit requirements for Canada and the US.
  • Participate in ERP improvement implementation, ensuring seamless integration.
Ideal Profile:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Bilingual (French and English) with excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with Canadian and United States compliance, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements.
  • 5 years of experience as a Controller, with a proven track record of success.
  • 5 years of experience managing a team, with a strong leadership style.
  • Experience with ERP systems, with a strong understanding of financial software.
Ability to Work Under Pressure:
  • Ability to work under multiple deadlines, with multiple priorities and peak times.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to develop and manage direct reports.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to analyze complex financial data.
  • Strong interest in automation, technology, and accounting rules, with a desire to continuously improve processes.
