Job Summary

Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare is seeking a skilled Cook to join our Food & Nutrition Services team. As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food for patients, staff, and other clients in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with menu planning and recipe development to ensure a diverse and nutritious food selection for patients and staff.
  • Prepare, cook, and assemble food according to Food Premises Regulations and department safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
  • Ensure proper stock rotation and maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
  • Meet quality standards and food preparation deadlines for scheduled mealtimes and catering events.
  • Collaborate with the Food & Nutrition Services team to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Red Seal Cook Certificate (Assistant Cook or Institutional Cook Certificate is the minimum requirement for staff grandfathered into this position).
  • Healthcare food service experience.
  • Positive attitude to changing environment.
  • Good working relationships and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work well under direct supervision or independently.
  • Proven record of excellent punctuality and attendance.
  • Must meet physical requirements of the position which includes lifting, standing, and walking for long periods of time.
Desired Skills, Experience, and Education
  • Current Food Handler Certificate from Public Health.

Additional Information

Location: Multi-Site, working in person at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville.

Department: Food & Nutrition Services.

Hours of Work: Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements per the collective agreement.
