Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Lineage and Controls Analyst to join our team at the Royal Bank of Canada. As a Data Student at RBC, you will be responsible for documenting all aspects of the data lineage lifecycle from the original source of the data to the point of consumption of the data into a report, including any associated data transformations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand and document the lineage of CDEs from originating source to point of consumption of data into a report or other risk management activity.
  • Collaborate with other Data Management Offices, Data Custodians and Data Stewards to understand data lineage reporting standards and best practices.
  • Leverage data lineage artifacts captured by other Data Management Offices and share artifacts captured by Risk Data Management Office to avoid duplication of effort.
  • Identify and communicate options to optimize the process of data lineage capture and documentation.
  • Develop knowledge and become a valuable team resource, supporting the development of Data Lineage in general.
  • Work as part of an agile team responsible for end-to-end delivery of business needs.
  • Work on transformational projects delivering new value.
  • Constantly seek out better ways to do things, new tools, new technologies, new processes.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institute with a focus on Finance, Data Analysis or any other related data programs.
  • Excellent intrapersonal and highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and absorb new concepts (in business and in systems) quickly and apply new knowledge.
  • Knowledge of data manipulation and analysis tools such as Datameer, SQL.
  • Strong MS Office skills – Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
