Data Governance Role Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join AXIS Capital, a leading global provider of specialty lines insurance and reinsurance, as a Data Governance Analyst. We are seeking a highly skilled professional to play a key role in building the core foundations that will revolutionize the way data is thought about and used at AXIS.

As a Data Governance Analyst, you will be instrumental in designing and implementing policies, frameworks, and standards that will enable work to be approached in a consistent way, resulting in scalable solutions. You will work closely with data owners and data stewards to ensure data ownerships and responsibilities are clearly defined, and data definitions are agreed.

You will also be responsible for supporting the practical implementation of data domains across AXIS, working closely with the Data Architecture team to ensure our future data governance processes and procedures are in line with the strategic architecture. Additionally, you will work with the Data Quality team on the design of the controls across the underwriting data lifecycle and support in the implementation of these.

The ideal candidate will have 3-6 years of experience in the data governance field, preferably in (Re)Insurance, and a solid understanding of data governance and data quality frameworks. You will also have excellent communication and collaboration skills, ability to win confidence of business stakeholders across AXIS Capital, and exceptional problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Support the Head of Data Governance to design and implement policies, frameworks, and standards for data governance.
  2. Work closely with data owners and data stewards to ensure data ownerships and responsibilities are clearly defined, and data definitions are agreed.
  3. Support the practical implementation of data domains across AXIS, working closely with the Data Architecture team.
  4. Work with the Data Quality team on the design of the controls across the underwriting data lifecycle.
  5. Support the evaluation of data governance tooling and the roll out of the POC for data governance tooling across AXIS Capital.
  6. Support the Head of Data Governance in building and maintenance of a central data catalogue.
  7. Support with master data management and reference data management strategies.
Requirements
  1. 3-6 years of experience in the data governance field, preferably in (Re)Insurance.
  2. Solid understanding of data governance and data quality frameworks.
  3. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  4. Exceptional problem-solving skills.
