About the Role

Mercer is seeking a highly skilled Pension Administration Specialist to join our team in a hybrid environment. As a key member of our pension administration Client Services team, you will provide exceptional administration services to a portfolio of clients, demonstrating outstanding and timely customer service in all dealings with client contacts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality administration services to clients, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all dealings.
  • Work independently and as a member of a team with minimal supervision on assigned projects to generate accurate and efficient solutions.
  • Analyze pension plan documents to complete or provide final peer review of complex pension calculations performed by others, ensuring accuracy against plan documents for defined benefit pension plans.
  • Maintain an expert knowledge of relevant pension-related legislation in all provincial jurisdictions.
  • Prepare annual statements for plan members.
  • Calculate pension adjustments (PA), pension adjustment reversals (PAR), and past service pension adjustments (PSPA) and pension indexation.
  • Provide peer review on all year-end process, including pension adjustments, pension adjustment reversals, membership reconciliations, fund reconciliations, annual statements, annual information returns, etc.
  • Maintain an expert knowledge of relevant pension-related provisions in the Income Tax Act.
  • Identify and resolve issues that affect accuracy, suggesting process improvements to management.
  • Provide guidance and training to client teams and serve as a subject matter expert.
  • Analyze legislative and regulatory summaries and ensure compliance for all client work, adhering to all established standards.
  • Act in accordance with Mercer Professional Standards and following the peer review/checking process.
  • Set priorities and coordinate projects, taking into account established deadlines.
  • Mentor junior administrators.
Requirements
  • 5+ years' experience administering defined benefit pension plans.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word, with the ability to support complex calculations using Excel solutions.
  • Experience working with multiple legislative jurisdictions.
  • Strong analytical and organization skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, administration, or another related field.
  • Basic understanding of actuarial principles.
  • Bilingual (French-English).
