Support Communication and Independence for Deafblind Individuals

Sensity Deafblind and Sensory Support Network of Canada is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to support the communication and daily living needs of individuals who are deafblind.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support individuals in their home and community environments to promote independence and participation in daily activities.
  • Use effective communication techniques to relay information and empower individuals to make informed decisions.
  • Assist with personal care, including lifts and transfers, toileting, personal hygiene, and medication administration, as required.
  • Develop and support individual goals and objectives, and assist with program development to promote independence and community participation.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping to support individual needs and program development.
Requirements:
  • Completion of a college diploma or certificate in the Intervenor for Deafblind Persons program, or a related human services field.
  • Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors.
  • Experience supporting individuals with mental health conditions.
  • Communication skills in American Sign Language (ASL) or Signed Exact English (SEE).
  • A valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and a clean current driver's abstract.
