Job Summary:

The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) works under the direction and supervision of a registered Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist to engage clients/patients through therapeutic mobilization care plans and self-care activities to improve or maintain function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver safe and client-centered care while maintaining the practice standards of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) and the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario (CPO).
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Provide therapeutic mobilization and self-care activities to clients/patients.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify client/patient needs.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with clients/patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of excellence.

Requirements:

  • Graduate from a formal training program in Occupational Therapy Assistant and Physiotherapy Assistant at a Ministry of Education approved community college.
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience working with functionally challenged patients preferred.
  • Demonstrates good communication, accountability, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Time management skills.
  • Adaptable to handling changing workloads.
  • Demonstrates commitment towards learning new skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to function as a team member.
  • Good attendance record.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks associated with the job.
