Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Human Resources Business Development Specialist to join our team in Saint John, New Brunswick. This is a full-time role with 37.5 hours/week, working on-site 2-3 times per week and remotely for the remainder.
About the RoleAs a key member of our Human Resources team, you will be responsible for delivering operational HR support while building strong business partnerships with leaders and fostering trusting relationships with employees. You will model Western's corporate culture and partner with our business leaders to support people management, employee relations, and performance objectives.
- Promote and model our company culture, Guiding Principles, and positive working relationships.
- Partner with our business leaders to support people management, employee relations, and performance objectives.
- Provide leadership support in the areas of employee relations, wellness, engagement, succession, and talent development.
- Work with the business managers in workforce planning, including collaboration with other areas of People & Culture to develop role profiles and evaluations.
- Review and assist leaders with the annual review cycle, including merit and budget planning support.
- Conduct workplace investigations when necessary, with support from your peer group.
- Collaborate with the HR team to inform them of business issues/priorities and help formulate solutions to ensure effective HR service delivery.
- Partner with the business managers in developing and implementing strategies that support the development, engagement, and retention of employees.
- Contribute to and collaborate on the development of programs and services to meet business requirements.
- Lead and assist in special projects as identified by HR goals or business initiatives.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- 3 - 5 years of progressive Human Resource experience, with 2 – 3 years of direct HR Business Partner or HR advising/consulting experience.
- Strong knowledge of Employment Standards/Labour Law, Change Management, Employee Relations, Performance Improvement, and Resource Planning.
- Demonstrated understanding of the development and administration of large-scale projects, HR policies, practices, and procedures.
- Experience in supporting engagement programs and partnering in survey design and implementation is an asset.
- Demonstrated understanding and adherence to strict confidentiality and privacy, always displaying sound judgment.
- Excellent attention to detail; must demonstrate a sense of urgency and deliver quality outcomes.
- Post-secondary education in a related discipline, Certified Professional Human Resources (CPHR) designation is an asset.
- Ability to communicate in French is an asset but not required.
Western Coast Insurance Services offers a competitive compensation package consisting of:
