Job Summary

The Indigenous Pathways Development Lead will work closely with our Complaints and Practice Investigations team to implement recommendations from external reviews and reports. The successful candidate will have experience in cultural safety, humility, and anti-racism, as well as knowledge of Indigenous cultures, practices, and issues.

The ideal candidate will be able to lead complex projects, develop new strategies and policies, and cultivate a culturally safe environment for Indigenous complainants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the implementation of recommendations from external reviews and reports, focusing on cultural safety and accessibility.
  • Develop and implement alternative complaint processes, including soft complaints and in-person options.
  • Establish partnerships with First Nations Health Authority, Métis Nation BC, and other Indigenous health organizations.
  • Cultivate a culturally safe environment for Indigenous complainants through training and education.
  • Work collaboratively with our communications department to ensure information about the complaints process is communicated safely and accessibly.
  • Conduct a review of all communication materials related to complaints and revise documents to be more compassionate and sensitive to complainant's experiences.
Requirements
  • 5-7 years of experience working in cultural safety and humility and anti-racism, or equivalent combination of education and experience within an Indigenous context.
  • First-hand knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture in BC, particularly in the context of principles of Indigenous-centered care and Indigenous wellness.
  • Knowledge and understanding of emerging, current, and historical Indigenous issues, cultures, practices, cultural safety, cultural humility, Indigenous-specific racism, anti-racism, equity, diversity, inclusion, and Indigenous worldview.
  • Restorative resolution, reconciliation, mediation, and/or alternative dispute resolution (ADR) training or substantial expertise gained through experience and comprehensive understanding of trauma-informed practices within the context of healing and promoting reconciliation.

The salary range for this position is $83,425 to $104,281 per year.
