About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Manager to join our team at Manulife Insurance Malaysia. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in shaping our data governance and data quality framework, driving adoption of our data governance and data quality practices, and ensuring the accuracy and trust of our data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Deployment of Data Governance Agenda

Accelerate trust and utilization of data by supporting the deployment of our data governance agenda globally.

Collaborate to Continuously Refine Global Data Quality Framework

Drive adoption of the framework by developing playbooks, accelerators, and training the appropriate partners in data quality concepts.

Support Leaders in Data Governance Roles

Improve data literacy and familiarity with data governance and data quality practices among leaders in data governance roles across the organization.

Engage with Partners at Various Levels of the Organization

Guide partners in identifying critical data elements and setting up metrics linking data quality to business value.

Conduct Hands-on Data Analysis

Address high-priority data quality issues from issue identification through root cause analysis to issue resolution.

Implement Global Data Governance Metrics and Oversight Mechanisms

Ensure delivery of target outcomes through the Data Governance program by implementing global data governance metrics and oversight mechanisms.

Support Adoption of Data Quality Technology

Support the adoption of data quality technology in the Azure Cloud environment and for on-prem applications.

Serve as a Liaison

Serve as a liaison between the Global Data Governance team and our Segment Data offices, Data Owners, and Control Partners to ensure that data quality requirements are defined, captured, and communicated.

Apply Creative Thinking and Contribute to Innovation

Apply creative thinking and contribute to innovation in data governance practices at Manulife Insurance Malaysia; monitor new and existing data governance technologies and bring meaningful advancements to the leaders' attention.

What We Are Looking For
  • 5+ years of data governance and data management related experience in a large multinational organization
  • A college/university degree in computer science, engineering, or another technology or quantitative field
  • Experience operating in a sophisticated, large-scale organization; financial and insurance industry experience preferred
  • Strong communicator, able to effectively target communications to both technology and business audiences
  • Mastery of data governance concepts and technologies. Hands-on experience using one or more leading data quality software and data visualization products at scale
  • Familiarity with foundational data architecture concepts and Cloud technology is a plus
  • Strong problem-solver, able to facilitate teams united by a common goal in a matrixed organizational structure
  • Practical experience with data wrangling, analytics, dashboard design. Knowledge and experience of AI/ML technologies and approaches is a plus
  • An aspiring leader with a passion, drive, curiosity, and motivation to navigate across a global matrixed organization
