Position Overview

The Role

Manulife Insurance Malaysia is enhancing its Global Data Governance capabilities and is seeking a seasoned professional to contribute to the evolution of our data governance and quality initiatives. This role is pivotal in fostering the adoption of our data governance framework and best practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the global data governance strategy to enhance trust and maximize data utilization.
  • Collaborate in refining the global data quality framework; promote its adoption through the creation of playbooks, tools, and training for relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist leaders in data governance roles throughout the organization to elevate their data literacy and understanding of governance and quality practices.
  • Engage with stakeholders at various organizational levels to assist in the identification of essential data elements and develop metrics that connect data quality to business outcomes.
  • Perform detailed data analysis to resolve critical data quality challenges, from identification through root cause analysis to resolution.
  • Establish global data governance metrics and oversight to ensure the achievement of targeted outcomes within the Data Governance program.
  • In collaboration with Technology teams, facilitate the adoption of data quality technologies in cloud environments and on-premises applications.
  • Act as a liaison between the Global Data Governance team and various data offices, ensuring that data quality requirements are well-defined and communicated.
  • Encourage innovative thinking and contribute to advancements in data governance practices; keep abreast of new and existing technologies in this field.

Qualifications

  • Over 5 years of experience in data governance and management within a large multinational context.
  • A degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Familiarity with data governance tools such as Purview, Collibra, or Informatica.
  • Experience in large-scale organizations, preferably in the financial or insurance sectors.
  • Excellent communication skills, adept at engaging both technical and business audiences.
  • Deep understanding of data governance principles and technologies, with hands-on experience in leading data quality software and visualization tools.
  • Knowledge of foundational data architecture and cloud technologies is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of uniting teams towards common objectives.
  • Experience in data wrangling, analytics, and dashboard design; familiarity with AI/ML technologies is a plus.
