Job Summary


As a Registered Nurse with Fraser Health, you will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients/residents within an assigned unit. This involves assessing physical and psychosocial needs, identifying problems, planning, implementing, and documenting the nursing care for an individual patient/resident or groups of patients/residents.



Key Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care for an individual patient/resident or group of patients/residents based on nursing knowledge and in conformance with established standards and hospital policies.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other healthcare providers in planning and evaluating the care provided to a patient/resident or group of patients/residents.
  • Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for patients/residents, visitors, and staff by following sound bacteriological and preventive health principles.
  • Plans and provides teaching to patients/residents and their families by identifying needs and referring to the appropriate services.
  • Actively participates in monitoring and evaluating the quality of care provided and continuously strives to improve the quality of care.


Qualifications

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate upon hire and maintained as current in specifically identified areas.
  • Successful completion of specialty education applicable to the designated clinical area.

  • Ability to determine and deal with emergency situations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good public relations and an effective working relationship with patients/residents, the general public, other employees, and medical staff.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to use related equipment.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
