Nurse Practitioner Assistant

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Employed Student Nurse to join our team at Fraser Health. As an Employed Student Nurse, you will work under the direction of a practicing Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurse, or Registered Psychiatric Nurse, providing direct nursing care to patients/residents/clients in a variety of settings.
Key Responsibilities:- Provides nursing care to patients/residents/clients by performing a variety of nursing functions/activities, including administering medications, conducting assessments, and managing intravenous infusions.
- Assesses, documents, and reports the current health status of assigned patients/residents/clients, collecting relevant documentation and observing patient condition.
- Collaborates with the nursing team, multi-disciplinary team members, community care partners, and patients/residents/clients and families to develop and modify health care plans.
- Evaluates patient/resident/client response to the health care plan, modifying interventions as appropriate and recommending participation in multi-disciplinary team evaluation of patient/resident/client care.
- Participates in quality improvement plans/activities and assists in collecting/collating data.
- Current registration with BCCNM as an Employed Student Registrant and continued enrollment in a recognized nursing education program.
- Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support.
- Successful completion of a medical/surgical or mental health/substance use clinical practicum or equivalent in a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse Program.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to organize assigned workload and set priorities.
- Ability to deal effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts.
- Ability to operate equipment, including related software applications.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
