About the Role:

We are seeking a seasoned expert to join our Global HPC Professional Services team as a Principal Consultant for Power and Cooling. This role represents a rewarding opportunity to use your experience and skills in a dynamic, complex organization and to deliver across our major customer sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Data Center Design: Decipher complex RFP requirements related to facility power and cooling infrastructure and help IT architects design an IT solution that fits within those limitations.
  • Power and Cooling Architecture: Architect complex power and cooling solutions for air and water-cooled IT solutions.
  • Stakeholder Management: Work with key stakeholders (customers or internal) requesting infrastructure enhancements to develop a clear understanding of requirements and success criteria.
  • Solution Development: Collaborate with sales and critical engineering subject matter experts to determine the solution scope and projected costs.
  • Project Management: Capture the solution description and review with key stakeholders.
  • Tech Guidance: Work closely with engineers and developers to ensure the tasks are well understood and acceptance criteria met.
  • Partnership Building: Continue partnerships with internal or external customers to ensure the project goals and requirements are met.
  • Decision Making: Drive the build vs. buy decisions as needed, and identify key technologies needed to deliver new products with each release.
  • Industry Knowledge: Participate actively with Development and external organizations like ASHRAE while staying current with technologies and techniques that will move our business forward.
  • Installation Expertise: Be actively involved in the physical installation of complex IT systems that are air or water-cooled.
  • Discipline Leadership: Provide engineering guidance over a wide range of disciplines (power/electrical, mechanical, thermal, plumbing, controls).
  • Vendor Management: Effectively project manage vendors contracted to provide separate pieces of the solution.

Requirements:

  • Technical Experience: 8+ years of experience working in technology disciplines such as power/electrical or mechanical/thermal engineering.
  • Data Center Understanding: Understanding of data center and IT solution power delivery architectures.
  • Cooling Architecture: Understanding of data center and IT solution cooling architectures and heat transfer.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to work across a wide range of stakeholders and drive issues to closure.
  • Consulting Expertise: Experience in providing effective leadership in engagements as a technical consultant in the power and cooling subject matter area.
