Located in the heart of Winnipeg, the Notre Dame Recreational Centre has been a community hub since 1984. We pride ourselves on being the only bilingual community centre in the city, offering a unique blend of French and English services.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Executive Director to lead our team. As the key administrative and clerical contact, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the Centre.

Responsibilities

  • Act as liaison with City authorities, community groups, schools, users, and our Board of Directors.
  • Develop and recommend operating policies and procedures for approval by the Board.
  • Oversee weekly and monthly planning of all Centre activities, including hall and ice rentals scheduling.
  • Administer emergency call-outs and work with bookkeeping services for timely invoicing and employee payment.
  • Manage general filing and prepare correspondence, reports, and documents as requested by the Board.
  • Provide a monthly report to the Board and attend monthly meetings.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Operations/ Administrative Duties:
    • Acts as liaison with various stakeholders.
    • Recommends operating policies and procedures.
    • Oversees Centre activities and scheduling.
    • Administers emergency call-outs and financial tasks.
  • Human Resources/Supervisory:
    • Responsible for recruitment, training, supervision, and dismissal of staff.
    • Oversees Canteen/Restaurant operations, including ordering supplies and scheduling staff.
    • Sets work priorities, methods, and scheduling of support staff.
  • Buildings and Grounds:
    • Conducts facility and ground inspections annually with the Building and Grounds Director.
    • Works with the Building and Grounds Director on upkeep and maintenance of arena facilities.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Post-secondary studies in administration, management, sports and recreation is an asset.
  • Fluent in French and English, written and oral, is preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time position (37.5 hours/week).
  • Day shift, Monday to Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Casual dress and flexible schedule.
  • On-site parking available.

Compensation

$55,000 - $62,000 per year, plus benefits.
