Job Summary

The Manitoba Government is seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Specialist to join our team in the Asset Management Division of Consumer Protection and Government Services. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the operation and maintenance of government facilities, including office buildings, housing units, and correctional centers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance activities inside and outside of buildings
  • Maintain heating and cooling equipment
  • Assist tradespersons and groundskeepers
  • Perform daily checks, inspections, and preventative maintenance on life safety systems
  • Help maintain client relations

Requirements:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must possess and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License and be able to work in other locations within the Division as needed
  • Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position
  • Must be able to work overtime, including evenings and weekends

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience with general building, grounds, and equipment maintenance
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety policies and legislation
  • Ability to analyze and problem-solve
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Verbal and written communication skills

Desired Qualifications:
  • Trade designation (5th class Power Engineer, partial or full trades certificate, BOMI Certificate)
