About the Opportunity

The Clinical Nurse Educator plays a vital role in advancing person-centered care through evidence-based professional practice and learning strategies. Reporting to the Manager, Interprofessional Practice and Learning, Central Zone, this position is responsible for assessing, implementing, planning, evaluating, and supporting the application of existing and new clinical knowledge to support the translation of knowledge to practice.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate competency in practice, program design and implementation, monitoring and evaluation of learning and education sessions, leadership and professional practice. They will also exhibit the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors that align with the Interprofessional Practice and Learning Framework, supporting collaborative person-centered care within Nova Scotia Health.

This role utilizes a framework grounded in adult and person-centered concept-based learning, practice development, fundamentals of care, and collaborative participatory learning and practice. The Clinical Nurse Educator will foster a culture of learning to build capacity and support the advancement of professional practice through the implementation of orientation and ongoing education programs that integrate a learner-centered approach.

The successful candidate will provide advice, consultation, and support to advance practice and maintain and develop evidence-based standards of care and competency, optimizing patient outcomes within the interprofessional care team. Periodic travel to facilities within Central Zone is required, and access to reliable transportation is necessary.

About You
  • Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Science in Nursing required
  • Masters in Nursing/Health/Education/Public Health preferred
  • Active practicing license in good standing with NSCN required
  • Minimum three years full-time clinical nursing experience within last five years in Orthopedic nursing required
  • Relevant CNA/other specialty certification required or willing to complete
  • BLS-C (HCP) certification required
  • Recent experience as a Clinical Nurse Educator/Nursing Instructor preferred
  • Previous experience in education support, onboarding new staff, and transition to practice an asset
  • Adult Education Program an asset or willing to complete
  • Previous teaching experience which involves designing, implementing and evaluating traditional & non-traditional methods of instruction preferred
  • Recent professional development relevant to maintaining currency in clinical practice & education
  • Evidence of adult education theory & application and leadership development and/or experience in the last year
  • Demonstrated initiative, effective interpersonal skills, communication skills & innovative problem solving
  • Skilled in the facilitation of concept-based learning, collaborative learning & practice development
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Suite & computer documentation systems
  • Physical demands – setting up rooms, walking and standing, movement of educational resources/tools with facilities & across sites
Hours

Permanent Full-Time (75 Hours Bi-Weekly)

Compensation and Benefits

$49.80 - $59.44 hourly
$97,116 - $115,901 annually
$61.52 hourly ($119,958 annually) with 25 years' nursing experience
