Developmental Clinic Nurse

The Opportunity
The Developmental Clinic Nurse will work collaboratively with patients, families, and the Developmental Clinic Team to ensure coordinated, best-practice care for children and youth with developmental concerns. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting child and family interviews, assessments, interventions, and follow-ups as indicated.
- Coordinating appointments and case conferences for families as needed.
- Providing education and teaching to patients and families as required.
- Acting as a resource for families regarding support services available in the Maritimes.
- Developing and maintaining internal and external partnerships.
- Advocating on behalf of patients and families.
- Participating in implementing changes to continually improve service provision.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- Registration or eligibility to register with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing.
- Current successful completion of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (BLS) Program within the last 12 months.
- Minimum five years of clinical experience, with three years of current pediatric nursing experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of development and related issues through the life span.
- Sound judgment, independent decision-making, and leadership skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain internal and external partnerships.
- Ability to provide telephone-facilitated care.
- Strong knowledge of and commitment to Family Centered Care.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Recognized team player with the ability to work independently.
- Time management, organization, and problem-solving skills.
