The Opportunity

The Developmental Clinic Nurse will work collaboratively with patients, families, and the Developmental Clinic Team to ensure coordinated, best-practice care for children and youth with developmental concerns. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting child and family interviews, assessments, interventions, and follow-ups as indicated.
  • Coordinating appointments and case conferences for families as needed.
  • Providing education and teaching to patients and families as required.
  • Acting as a resource for families regarding support services available in the Maritimes.
  • Developing and maintaining internal and external partnerships.
  • Advocating on behalf of patients and families.
  • Participating in implementing changes to continually improve service provision.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Registration or eligibility to register with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing.
  • Current successful completion of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (BLS) Program within the last 12 months.
  • Minimum five years of clinical experience, with three years of current pediatric nursing experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of development and related issues through the life span.
  • Sound judgment, independent decision-making, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain internal and external partnerships.
  • Ability to provide telephone-facilitated care.
  • Strong knowledge of and commitment to Family Centered Care.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Recognized team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Time management, organization, and problem-solving skills.
