The Pharmascience organization is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Payroll Department Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of its payroll department.

About This Role:

  • This position involves managing the overall strategy, direction, and execution of payroll processes, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily payroll operations, including accurate and timely processing of various payrolls.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and federal/provincial regulations by monitoring updates to laws and regulations governing payroll processing.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and handle escalations in a professional manner.
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll procedures and records, facilitating internal/external audits as required.
  • Coordinate international payroll updates with third-party providers.
  • Review and approve payroll data before final submission on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Oversee payroll year-end processing, including tax slip production and annual declarations.
  • Manage group insurance and retirement plans, handling billing, enrollment, rate changes, renewals, system integrations, and escalations.
  • Support the integration of acquired companies into the payroll system for seamless transitions.
  • Plan and manage team workload to ensure timely processing and balanced distribution of payroll activities.
  • Develop, maintain, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all payroll processes.
  • Build and maintain internal and external client relationships.
  • Implement system and process changes to enhance efficiency and accuracy while fostering a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Cultivate a performance-driven culture that encourages team members to strive for excellence.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in payroll management.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll software and systems.
  • Excellent understanding of payroll regulations and compliance.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Ability to guide teams toward shared objectives.
  • Rigor, integrity, autonomy, and adaptability.
  • Analytical and synthesis skills, with the ability to innovate solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation.
  • Experience with UKG and Kronos.

Estimated Salary: $85,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. We offer a competitive compensation package, including benefits and opportunities for growth and development.
