At Pharmascience Inc., we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Payroll Operations Manager to join our team. As a key member of our payroll department, this role is responsible for overseeing and managing the payroll process, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time. This includes optimizing payroll processes and systems, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, and providing leadership and support to the payroll team.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Overseeing daily operations of the payroll department, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payrolls.
  2. Ensuring compliance of operations with company policies, as well as federal and provincial regulations.
  3. Resolving payroll discrepancies and handling payroll-related escalations.
  4. Conducting regular audits of payroll procedures and records and facilitating internal/external audits.
  5. Coordinating international payroll updates with third-party providers.
  6. Reviewing and approving payroll data before final submission.
  7. Overseeing payroll year-end processing, including the production of tax slips and annual declarations.
  8. Managing group insurance and retirement plans.
  9. Supporting the integration of acquired companies into the payroll system.
  10. Planning and managing team work to ensure timely processing and a balanced distribution of payroll activities.
  11. Developing, maintaining, and regularly updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all payroll processes.
  12. Developing and maintaining internal and external client relationships.
  13. Developing and implementing system and process changes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, human resources, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 10 years of experience in payroll management.
  3. Strong knowledge of payroll software and systems.
  4. Excellent understanding of payroll regulations and compliance.
  5. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  6. Strong leadership and team management skills.
  7. Ability to guide and direct teams towards common goals.
  8. Rigor, integrity, autonomy, and adaptability.
  9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  10. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation.
  11. Experience with UKG and Kronos.
