Job Purpose:

The Maintenance Helper position plays a critical role in supporting the Maintenance department with various activities. This role will assist skilled trades personnel with priority and preventative maintenance tasks, ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in completing new or ongoing projects, including 5S initiatives and tool maintenance.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with health and safety procedures and quality standards.
  • Perform general organizing and cleaning tasks to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Suggest improvements and implement changes to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Assist with coil storage cleaning and organizing, as well as general plant housekeeping.
  • Ensure work areas are clean, neat, and orderly, and free of scrap materials.
  • Adhere to all health and safety procedures and protocols.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve work goals and objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with team leaders and team members on a daily basis.
  • Support the implementation of new principles and practices, and complete daily, weekly, and monthly checklists as required.
  • Assist with changeovers and other tasks as directed by the Tool Room or Maintenance Team Leaders/Managers.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12, GED, or equivalent.
  • Apprenticeship, pre-apprenticeship, or trades-related training an asset.
  • Forklift License or ability to obtain.
  • Overhead Crane Certification or ability to obtain.
  • Aerial Lift Platform Certification or ability to obtain.
  • Computer efficiency and systems knowledge in all required areas.
