Job Description

Job Title: Business Systems Analyst

Job Summary:

The City of Burnaby is seeking a highly skilled Business Systems Analyst to join our IT Systems & Knowledge team within IT Client Services. As a Business Systems Analyst, you will play a critical role in sustaining existing business applications, deploying applications, and developing or configuring applications, with a focus on ServiceNow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sustain existing business applications, deploy applications, and develop or configure applications, with a focus on ServiceNow.
  • Interact with Project Managers and cross-functional project teams to develop business requirements, business processes, and procedures.
  • Participate in the development of unit tests and conduct module walkthroughs.
  • Coordinate user reviews of configured applications and prepare and maintain reports and records related to the work.
  • Stay up-to-date with recent developments in computer techniques and procedures.
  • Perform research, assemble information, organize, and facilitate business workshops and related documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a university degree at the Bachelor's level in Computer Science or a related discipline (e.g., Business Administration).
  • Sound related experience in business analysis, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator and Certified Implementation Specialist certificates are strong assets.
  • Experience as a ServiceNow Developer and implementing IT Service Management modules within ServiceNow is required.
  • Experience managing ServiceNow system configurations, gathering and documenting user and process requirements, developing workflow customizations, UI design, ACL, and business rules, and performing quality assurance testing is essential.
  • Prior knowledge and experience with business analysis within a municipal environment, process modeling, cost benefit analysis, change management, and business process re-engineering will be considered an asset.
  • The ability to utilize agile and scrum methodology, establish and maintain effective working relationships with various internal and external contacts, and present proposals in non-technical language.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and excellent verbal & written communication skills.
