Power Plant Operations Manager

Job Summary:
G. W. Goudreau Personnel Services Ltd. is seeking a skilled Power Plant Chief for a direct hire position. The selected candidate will assist the Chief Operating Engineer in coordinating Power Plant operations and maintenance activities.
Operations:
- Assist the Chief Engineer in administering programs for electrical, mechanical, general construction, and repair and maintenance of existing facilities and equipment.
- Implement a complete preventive management system.
- Ensure effective cost management for site Power Plant and develop budgets.
- Key contributor for the natural gas procurement team.
- Negotiate contracts with vendors and governing bodies.
- Assign and verify completion of routine maintenance and operation of mechanical, electrical, H.V.A.C systems, and other related equipment.
- Assist with the administration of inventory control programs and systems.
Quality & Safety:
- Create, foster, and maintain a proactive safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) - Management-Supervision-Worker Safety.
- Support OHAS 18001 Safety Management Programs and ensure compliance with plant safety goals and initiatives. Provide necessary training, schedule/conduct regular safety meetings, and attain safety targets.
- Develop and implement site-wide equipment standards for optimal efficiency and compliance.
Requirements:
- 1st Class Power Engineer certification from the TSSA, or 2nd Class Power Engineer with 24 months experience and some 1st Class examination completed.
- Five+ years of related work experience.
- Awareness of relevant codes and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, and proficiency in computer systems and technology.
