Power Generation Operations

The Power Plant Chief Operations Manager will lead our power generation operations team, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our power plants. This role is responsible for coordinating with the Chief Operating Engineer to implement programs for electrical, mechanical, and repair and maintenance of existing facilities and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance system.
  • Manage the budget for site power plant operations and develop cost-saving strategies.
  • Collaborate with the natural gas procurement team to optimize energy costs.
  • Assign and verify completion of routine maintenance and operation of all mechanical, electrical, H.V.A.C systems.

Quality & Safety:

  • Foster a proactive safety culture and ensure compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Support OHAS 18001 Safety Management Programs and ensure compliance with overall plant safety goals.

Team Management:

  • Craft employee role requirements and provide regular progress discussions.
  • Manage department work schedules, payroll, job administration, time off requests, and employee time & attendance.

Competencies:

  • First-class Power Engineer certificate from the TSSA (or 2nd class Power Engineer certificate with some 1st class examination completed).
  • 5+ years of related work experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
