G. W. Goudreau Personnel Services Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled Power Plant Chief to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for assisting the Chief Operating Engineer in coordinating Power Plant Operations and Maintenance activities to meet production and plant operations requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Chief Engineer in administering programs involving electrical, mechanical, and general construction, and repair and maintenance of existing facilities and equipment.
  • Implement a complete preventive management system to ensure effective cost management for site Power Plant and budget development and ownership.
  • Key contributor for the natural gas procurement team and contracts negotiation with vendors and governing bodies.
  • Assigns and verifies completion of routine maintenance/PM and operation of all mechanical, electrical, H.V.A.C systems and any other related equipment.
  • Assist with the administration of inventory control programs and systems.
  • Implement strategies to reduce energy consumption and minimize the carbon footprint within the organization.

Requirements:

  • Preference to 1st class Power Engineer (with certificate from the TSSA)
  • Consideration given to a 2nd class Power Engineer (with certificate, some 1st class examination completed and all 1st class time - must possess 24 months experience as a Shift Engineer in a first-class plant)
  • Five (5)+ years of related work experience (any industry is acceptable)
  • Appropriate license/permit for trade as may be required
  • Awareness of relevant codes and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to make things happen, customer focus, team building and influencing and partnering
  • Project management relating to change and improvements in the Power Plant
  • Budgetary and fiscal knowledge and exposure
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and both oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in the use of computer systems and various technology, including JD Edwards, Kronos, MS Office, Rockwell DCS Controls
