Nursing Support Services Coordinator

Job Summary:
The Coordinator, Nursing Support Services is a key member of the Fraser Health Nursing Support Services team, responsible for coordinating the provision of nursing support services for children and youth with special health care needs. This role requires a strong understanding of nursing theory and expertise, as well as excellent communication and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinates the provision of nursing support services for children and youth with special health care needs.
- Conducts initial and ongoing assessments to determine eligibility for nursing support services.
- Develops and implements individual health care plans for delegated nursing care.
- Provides training and education to non-nurse caregivers on delegated care procedures.
- Monitors and evaluates care provided by non-nurse caregivers.
- Collaborates with patients, families, and healthcare teams to develop and implement optimal client care plans.
- Participates in quality improvement and risk management activities.
Qualifications:
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
- Three years recent, related clinical experience in nursing, including two years experience working with pediatrics, special needs children, and their families in a community setting.
- Valid Class V BC Driver's Licence and access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes.
Skills and Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of the process of delegation.
- Leadership and teaching skills.
- Ability to complete initial and ongoing client and family assessment and apply nursing theory and expertise to provide nursing care.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to promote family integrated care and demonstrate empathy for clients and families.
