Job Summary

Canadian Hearing Services (CHS) is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Support Services Specialist to join our team. As a Support Services Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing individual support services to adults who are culturally Deaf, oral deaf, deafened, deafblind, and hard of hearing or to their family members. Your primary responsibility will be to assist them in living independently within their community and accessing services and supports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual support services to adults who are culturally Deaf, oral deaf, deafened, deafblind, and hard of hearing or to their family members.
  • Assist clients in accessing services and supports, including home, work, school, family, and social services.
  • Promote and advocate for accessibility and sensitivity within the community.
  • Develop and facilitate psychoeducational workshops to support clients.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to ensure comprehensive support services.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or equivalent with experience.
  • Member of a regulated college (Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers).
  • Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in counselling and case management within the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.
  • Knowledge and experience with landlord-tenant concerns, income supports, AODA, and provincial and federal services.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle a pressurized environment and manage a varied workload with competing priorities and deadlines.
