Senior Process Engineer

The Senior Process Engineer will play a key role in supporting the operations, maintenance, and technical services departments at the Lloydminster Refinery. This position requires a strong understanding of process engineering principles and the ability to interpret operating data to identify areas for improvement.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing process engineering support to ensure safe and efficient operation of the facility. This includes completing project engineering tasks, identifying plant vulnerabilities, and resolving process issues in a timely manner.
The Senior Process Engineer will also be responsible for leading the development of project front-end scopes, overseeing special projects, and managing outsourced engineering work. Additionally, they will collaborate closely with the Technical Services team to provide expert review and sizing of upgraded or replacement equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development of project front-end scopes, including high-level cost estimates and economic assessments
- Oversee and direct special projects, such as debottlenecking initiatives, to optimize plant performance and efficiency
- Manage and provide guidance for outsourced engineering work, including process optimization and scoping studies
- Collaborate closely with the Technical Services team to provide expert review and sizing of upgraded or replacement equipment
- Develop and oversee the creation of design case simulations for both brownfield and greenfield facilities
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering (or an equivalent engineering field) with professional designation with APEGA or APEGS (or eligibility for professional designation)
- Minimum of 8-12 years of experience in operations or process engineering within an industrial facility
- Strong understanding of relevant codes and standards, such as ASME B31.3 and Section VIII
- Proficiency and experience with SAP and refining simulation software, such as Aspentech or Petrosim
- Strong leadership skills and ability to lead and complete multidisciplinary initiatives efficiently
