Societe Generale, a leading global bank and financial services firm, is seeking an experienced Risk Governance Specialist to join its Model Risks' Governance Team in Montreal. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of a robust risk management framework and governance process for Societe Generale's Americas division.

About the Role

As a Risk Governance Specialist, you will be responsible for driving the consistent application of the Model Risks' Governance framework across a diverse range of model families. Your primary focus will be on managing and maintaining the AMER Model Inventory and the Model Risk Management platform (GRC Platform), which underpins inventory tracking and model governance across the region.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Refine the Risk Framework: Enhance AMER model risk appetite and management framework to ensure it remains effective and aligned with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage Model Inventory: Collaborate with stakeholders to maintain the SG AMER Model Inventory, support annual certification, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct Quality Control: Perform regular checks on independent model reviews to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Governance and Reporting: Implement model risk processes, assess risk, and report to governance forums to inform decision-making.
  • Support Regulatory and Audit Preparation: Prepare materials for regulators and internal/external audits to demonstrate compliance and best practices.
  • Collaborate on Tech Solutions: Partner with technology teams to build model inventory and workflow solutions that enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Track and Report Issues: Review and monitor remediation actions, distribute governance materials, and communicate issues to relevant stakeholders.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in risk management, preferably with a focus on model risk and deep knowledge of risk metrics, model controls, and industry standards.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Strong experience drafting policy and procedure documentation, MIS reports, and materials for senior management, oversight forums, and regulators.
  • Background in consulting or audit, particularly in managing multiple risk management projects within investment or financial sectors.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders.
