Position Overview

This role provides high-level technical support to scientists, engineers, and line operations, with a focus on the operation, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of specialized research equipment or computational facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develops new techniques, test procedures, and standards under general supervision of professional staff, ensuring safety and providing guidance on safe equipment use.
  2. Assists professional staff in diagnosing causes of system, equipment, or material failure using advanced testing methods and equipment.
  3. Performs background research and literature searches as needed, evaluates results, and formulates recommendations.
  4. Provides information and options for product or process modification to improve system performance or meet customer and user needs.
  5. Researches, designs, and analyzes experiment results, selecting appropriate procedures, equipment, and standards to produce required data.
  6. Sets up, tests, and calibrates testing equipment.
  7. Manages daily laboratory operations, including budget management, large purchase recommendations, inventory, forecasting, and financial reporting.

Requirements

  • A university degree in a relevant discipline or technical program ideally related to pathology, with at least four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Graduate degree in a health sciences-related field is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Histology techniques, including sectioning, staining, and immunohistochemistry, is an asset.

Salary Information

The estimated salary range for this position is $57,652 - $71,551 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
