Position Overview
This role provides high-level technical support to scientists, engineers, and line operations, with a focus on the operation, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of specialized research equipment or computational facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops new techniques, test procedures, and standards under general supervision of professional staff, ensuring safety and providing guidance on safe equipment use.
- Assists professional staff in diagnosing causes of system, equipment, or material failure using advanced testing methods and equipment.
- Performs background research and literature searches as needed, evaluates results, and formulates recommendations.
- Provides information and options for product or process modification to improve system performance or meet customer and user needs.
- Researches, designs, and analyzes experiment results, selecting appropriate procedures, equipment, and standards to produce required data.
- Sets up, tests, and calibrates testing equipment.
- Manages daily laboratory operations, including budget management, large purchase recommendations, inventory, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Requirements
- A university degree in a relevant discipline or technical program ideally related to pathology, with at least four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Graduate degree in a health sciences-related field is an asset.
- Knowledge of Histology techniques, including sectioning, staining, and immunohistochemistry, is an asset.
Salary Information
The estimated salary range for this position is $57,652 - $71,551 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
