The National Research Council (NRC) is seeking an Instrumentation Technologist to support its Automotive and Surface Transportation Research Centre.

The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, operating, troubleshooting and repairing electronic and mechanical devices for laboratory and field experiments, interpreting technical drawings, and using MS Office Suite for documentation and reporting.

The ideal candidate will have a college diploma in an electrical, electronics, or instrumentation program, as well as significant experience in the evaluation and selection of suitable sensors and instrumentation, maintenance, calibration, and operation of electronic measurement instrumentation, and data interpretation and analysis.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting laboratory and field testing activities
  • Operating, maintaining, and upgrading specialized railway facilities and measuring equipment
  • Selecting suitable instrumentation for projects
  • Developing and implementing vehicle remote monitoring systems
  • Analyzing and interpreting data
  • Assisting in the development of research proposals
