Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation Technologist to join our team at the National Research Council Canada. As an Instrumentation Technologist, you will be responsible for supporting the installation, maintenance, and operation of various analytical instrumentation and equipment in our combustion test cells and research laboratories.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and operate analytical instrumentation and equipment in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.
  • Calibrate critical and non-critical instruments following existing procedures and quality system work instructions.
  • Assist in the design, development, and assembly of electronic and real-time computer hardware/software used for control and measurement.
  • Provide technical expertise for defining requirements and selecting scientific instrumentation, components, and software.

Requirements

  • 3-year College Diploma in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Process Control Engineering Technology.
  • Significant and recent experience in experimental measurement techniques and signal conditioning/processing.
  • Significant and recent experience in the design, specification, and development of instrumentation, data acquisition, and control systems hardware and software.
  • Significant experience in the maintenance, calibration, operation, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic measurement instrumentation.
  • Basic experience using laboratory or industrial process programming languages (LabVIEW or PLC) to develop custom software and integration of hardware and data acquisition systems.

Working Conditions

This position requires working in a laboratory and test cell environment with various types of equipment and instrumentation. The successful candidate must be able to work in a team environment and have excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

English is the primary language of work for this position.
