Job Title: Senior Process Engineer

Woodfibre Management Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Process Engineer to join their team in Vancouver, British Columbia. As a key member of the operations team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and sustainable production of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a process support team, providing technical guidance and oversight to ensure the successful start-up and operation of the LNG plant.
  • Develop and implement process safety protocols, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the plant operations group to optimize commissioning and start-up schedules, ensuring timely and efficient production.
  • Manage production planning and forecasting, providing critical support to the marketing function.
  • Interface with the pipeline operator, Fortis BC, to manage plant feed gas demand and ensure seamless operations.
  • Prepare and manage process unit and equipment performance test runs, ensuring accurate data and reliable results.
  • Monitor and report on plant process unit and utility system performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Lead and implement process safety initiatives, ensuring a culture of safety and excellence within the team.
  • Manage a system for plant trip investigation and reporting, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Continuously improve plant performance through the initiation and follow-through of management of change.
  • Lead HAZOP and other technical safety reviews, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Provide day-to-day support for operations on production issues, ensuring timely and efficient resolution.
  • Analyze and report on plant and equipment performance, identifying areas for cost and efficiency improvement.
  • Manage the plant laboratory and external laboratory service contractor, ensuring quality assurance for the LNG product.
  • Provide performance measurement and feedback for process support team members, ensuring continuous improvement and growth.
  • Set and communicate yearly tasks and targets for each person in the process support team, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Manage process support team Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and reporting, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to continually improve personnel and process safety in the plant, ensuring a culture of excellence and safety.
  • Champion process safety and manage process safety systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Support the plant risk register and mitigations management, ensuring a proactive approach to risk management.
  • Provide technical support to the Emergency Response Management team, ensuring a rapid and effective response to emergencies.
  • Participate in audits as required by plant management, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Willingness to undertake both international and domestic travel for business, as required.
  • Participate in short-term domestic and international assignments, if required, during the construction, commissioning, and start-up phases.
  • Available for call-out during plant/production upsets, ensuring timely and efficient resolution.
  • Participate in competency assurance and training, ensuring continuous improvement and growth.
Requirements:
  • A minimum 7-10 years of proven technical competence within the LNG industry.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or related fields.
  • Fluency in English (written and oral).
  • Superior knowledge of and experience with commercial liquefaction technologies.
  • Possess advanced knowledge and working experience in LNG manufacturing process chain, particularly in the areas of Inlet feed-gas Pre-Treatment, Liquefaction, and Storage & Loading.
  • Skilled in process simulation and unit performance monitoring.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervision of a process engineering team.
  • Knowledge and experience of project interface requirements during construction and commissioning.
  • Proven experience in production and support of an operating liquefaction plant.
  • Experienced in leading plant improvements processes and management.
  • Competent in HAZOP and other technical safety reviews.
  • Experience in management of change systems.
  • Experience in root cause analysis.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to be able to interact with front-line workers through to management level.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Passion for building and guiding a small, dedicated process support team.
  • Energetic in the pursuit of continuous improvement processes.
  • Shares knowledge readily and encourages personal development.
  • Takes ownership of deliverables and demonstrates commitment to delivery of tasks and targets.
  • Actively supports his peers, including members of other departments.
  • Demonstrates and seeks accountability within the team.
