Job Title: Education Assistant II

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Education Assistant II to join our team at Parkland School Division. As an Education Assistant II, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work in a Grade 7 classroom, supporting a student with ASD. You will assist the teacher with instructional and non-instructional tasks, provide individualized support to the student, and contribute to a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the teacher with lesson planning, implementation, and assessment
  • Provide individualized support to the student with ASD, including behavioral management and communication strategies
  • Support the student with daily living skills, such as personal care and hygiene
  • Assist with classroom organization and preparation
  • Communicate with the teacher and other staff members to ensure a cohesive and supportive team approach
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma
  • Teacher Assistant Certificate or Educational Assistant Certificate (an asset)
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and First Aid Certificate (an asset)
  • Courses related to working with students with special needs or specific to the duties outlined above
  • 1-3 years of related experience (equivalencies will be considered)
