Job Title: Education Assistant II

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Education Assistant II to join our team at Parkland School Division. As an Education Assistant II, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs in our classrooms.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will assist teachers with instructional and non-instructional tasks, provide support to students with complex medical needs, and work collaboratively with the school team to create a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist teachers with implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and monitoring student progress
  • Provide support to students with complex medical needs, including lifting, transferring, and positioning
  • Use positive behavior reinforcement techniques to encourage appropriate behaviors
  • Assist students with personal hygiene tasks, including toileting, feeding, and grooming
  • Facilitate communication using augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems
  • Work collaboratively with the school team to create a safe and inclusive learning environment
Requirements:
  • Current NVCI Certification
  • Experience working with students with complex medical needs
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs
  • Ability to assist with changing/bathrooming
  • Experience working with medically fragile students
