Education Assistant II

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Education Assistant II to join our team at Parkland School Division. As an Education Assistant II, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs in a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist teachers with instructional and non-instructional tasks in the classroom and with other school activities.
- Work with students with physical and emotional needs, providing support with daily living skills, personal care, and behavior management.
- Assist with the implementation of Individual Program Plans (IPPs) and adaptive devices.
- Provide speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy support as directed by the therapy team.
- Communicate with teachers, parents, and other staff members to ensure a collaborative approach to student support.
- Participate in student team conferences and maintain accurate records of student progress.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Teacher Assistant Certificate or Educational Assistant Certificate is an asset.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and First Aid Certificate would be an asset.
- 1-3 years of related experience.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility, patience, sensitivity, tolerance, enthusiasm, creativity, and imagination.
Education Assistants work indoors, except when supervising children outdoors or going on field trips. They may have the same holiday schedule as teachers, including a long summer break and winter and spring breaks. This position requires an original copy of a current clean criminal record check with vulnerable sector and an original copy of a child intervention record check.
