About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Fabrication Assistant to join our team at Piedmont Sheet Metal (1997) Ltd. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting skilled tradespersons in the fabrication and installation of sheet metal products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Load, unload, and transport construction materials to and from the sheet metal shop.
  • Level earth to fine grade specifications to ensure a stable work environment.
  • Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites to maintain a safe working area.
  • Direct traffic at or near construction sites to prevent accidents and ensure smooth operations.
  • Perform other labouring and elemental activities as required to support the fabrication and installation of sheet metal products.
  • Operate metalworking machines to cut, punch, drill, shape, or straighten sheet metal to meet project specifications.
  • Use computer numerical control (CNC) machines to precision-cut sheet metal components.
  • Assist skilled tradespersons in assembling, erecting, and installing hoisting and rigging equipment.
  • Fabricate and fit sheet metal parts to meet project requirements.
  • Install sheet metal products according to specifications and building codes to ensure compliance and quality.
Requirements
  • Welding and soldering equipment experience.
  • Proficiency in operating shears, punch presses, drill presses, and brakes.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physical stamina to perform manual labour tasks.
