Pathologist for Surgical and Diagnostic Excellence

Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) North Sector, in partnership with the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, is seeking a qualified Anatomic or (AP/CP) General Pathologist with expertise in Dermatopathology, Cytopathology, or Gynecological pathology.
Job SummaryThe ideal candidate will possess a strong history of collegiality, professional accomplishments, and evidence of ongoing continued medical education. Responsibilities may include supervising technical staff, overseeing laboratory quality assurance, on-call requirements, and clinical consultation with physicians, surgeons, and oncologists.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art laboratory setting, supported by advanced ancillary testing capabilities, including immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, cytogenetics, and molecular pathology.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain high standards of practice, delivering services promptly to meet key performance indicators and provincial metrics.
- Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement programs.
- Contribute to undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate medical teaching.
- Supervise technical staff and oversee laboratory operations.
The minimum qualifications include an MD, eligibility for licensure in Alberta with certification in Anatomic Pathology, Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology, or General Pathology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the American Board of Pathology.
Fellowship training in areas like Dermatopathology, Cytopathology, or Gynecological pathology is considered an asset.
Location and CompensationThis position is located in Edmonton, Alberta, and offers a competitive salary range of $250,000 - $300,000 per year, depending on experience.
