Job Title: Multilingual Community Interpreter

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Multilingual Community Interpreter to join our team at Thunder Bay Multicultural Association. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality interpretation services in various settings, including community programs, court proceedings, and settlement services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Revise translated material to ensure that translations retain the meaning, feeling, and content of the original material
  • Interpret oral communication from one language to another aloud or using electronic equipment
  • Provide interpretation services in court
  • Interpret for persons speaking an Aboriginal or foreign language
  • Interpret language for individuals and small groups
  • Translate a variety of written material
Requirements:
  • Education: Other trades certificate or diploma
  • Experience: Experience is an asset
  • Language skills: Proficiency in English and ability to interpret languages such as Pashto, Persian, and Tigrinya
Working Conditions:

The ideal candidate will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. They will also possess excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
