Mental Health Clinician

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Clinician to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide mental health services directly in the school community environment within the designated SchoolsPlus family of schools.
The SchoolsPlus Mental Health Clinician will be responsible for:
- Providing mental health services to preschoolers, children, and adolescents within a mental health setting
- Conducting mental health assessments and implementing evidence-based treatment plans
- Working collaboratively with other professionals to develop effective linkages with other health, justice, education, social service, and community agencies
- Providing crisis and suicide risk assessment and intervention
- Assessing family functioning and implementing family-based interventions for complex cases
The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Social Work, current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers, and a minimum of two years' experience providing mental health services to children and adolescents.

- Strong diagnostic and assessment skills
- Experience with evidence-based treatment plans and interventions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with other professionals
- Knowledge of the DSM-IV-5 and ability to use it to screen for, assess, and conceptualize common childhood mental health disorders
The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate a commitment to providing high-quality mental health services to children and adolescents.
Hours and CompensationThis is a temporary full-time position with 75 hours bi-weekly. The successful candidate will be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
The hourly rate for this position is $49.04.
