Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Development Talent Growth Leader to join our team at Alquemy Search & Consulting in Edmonton.

Salary

$120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing technical teams and ensuring the enhancement of technical capabilities and innovative culture across the organization. This is a key and multi-faceted role where the Manager will provide leadership within their own area of responsibility and collaborate with other locations and departments across the organization to achieve corporate goals and objectives.

The right candidate will take the lead role collaborating with the Development Management Team, Scrum Masters, and Product Owners to ensure continuous improvement of agile practices.

This includes:

  • Providing strong people development and leadership to software development teams working in an Agile environment
  • Executing Talent Development processes and conducting program reviews to drive continuous improvement of these programs
  • Assessing skill gaps and managing talent risks and opportunities through talent development or acquisition
  • Performing regular 1:1s and providing frequent coaching and feedback to ensure teams are equipped with the right skills at the right time
  • Working with Scrum team members to manage goal setting, ongoing peer feedback, and learning and career development planning for the Development teams in Edmonton
  • Providing thought leadership to Scrum teams, Development Management, and other stakeholders to identify gaps in development/deployment processes and design and implement solutions to these challenges
  • Caching Scrum teams and stakeholders to resolve impediments and ensure they have appropriate requirements, direction, and resources to deliver effectively
  • Partnering with leaders across the organization to help identify and champion solutions to leadership and organizational development issues
  • Collaborating with the wider Development Management team in establishing annual goals, where appropriate, and driving results for their completion
  • Partnering with Human Resources and Learning & Training teams to maintain and support the Talent Development technology and other Talent infrastructure
  • Developing reports, dashboards, and documentation based on business and management requirements
  • Identifying organizational gaps, creating proposals to address found gaps and leading implementation in alignment with leadership team
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Degree in Business, Computer Science or Engineering OR equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in creating team-oriented culture
  • Proven experience being able to introduce efficiency improvements and lead initiatives in a structured manner while leveraging change management frameworks
  • 4+ years of leadership experience
  • Experience in initiating and delivering organizational change
  • Ability to develop clearly defined metrics and key agility indicators that will help you keep track of the team(s) progress
  • Understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies
  • Exceptional networking & relationship building skills
  • Ability to lead efficient collaborations through effective communication and negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to successfully navigate, collaborate and drive results in a complex environment
  • Strong critical reasoning, data analysis and reporting experience
  • Exceptional presentation and facilitation skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills are required
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong understanding of organizational change management
  • Professional Agile Leadership or Scrum certification
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operations
