Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Cook to join our culinary team at The Wexford. As a Cook, you will be responsible for the daily preparation and cooking of meals and nourishments from a menu and recipes set by the Chef.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook menu items to a high standard, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.
  • Operate cooking equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring all equipment is properly maintained.
  • Ensure safety and hygiene practices are adhered to, maintaining quality assurance standards that comply with all Health and Safety Standards and Regulations.
  • In the absence of the Chef, take responsibility for the production of the department.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of company policies and procedures, complying with policies and procedures.
  • Promote and maintain positive communication and relationships among management, staff, residents, and the public.
  • Ensure residents' rights of privacy and confidentiality are maintained, except in the proper operation of the business.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Diploma from a recognized cooking school.
  • Preferred experience in a recognized establishment.
  • Food Safe Certificate.
  • Red Seal Certificate is a definite asset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, organize departmental operations, and supervise subordinates when acting as lead hand.
  • Ability to speak and understand English competently.
  • Ability to safely and efficiently operate all equipment associated with the duties required for the position.
